Esa canción que yo puse unos post atras no es de Leighton, pertenece a un grupo llamado Awesome new republic, obviamente si la canta Leight. El tema es que en un principio todo el mundo la acuso de haberla sacado ella para promocionarse, y eso no es verdad. Miren aca esta la nota:

Wondering what I'm talkin' about? Well here goes. It is being reported (via) that my favorite "Gossip Girl," Leighton Meester, has this new pop-gem called "Birthday." Some are even saying she is secretly leaking it, a 'la Heidi Montag style. Not True. The song isn't even technically "hers" -- it belongs to the oh-so-brilliant Awesome New Republic.
"Birthday" was originally written and recorded by producer Nick Scapa in conjunction with Awesome New Republic. The song -- with lyrics like, "just listen to these words I say / This is not a game I play / With just any other guy" -- was meant to be sung by a pop princess. Leighton Meester took a stab at it and recorded a version earlier this winter, but it was just a trial demo, and it isn't hers to release -- dammit, Blair!

Q: Your character, Blair, is very carnal and knowing for an 18-year-old. Were you a precocious teen?

"I actually find Blair naïve. I look at young girls like her who are obsessed with guys and with being the most popular and the prettiest, and I just want to shake them. Maybe you just grow up a little faster when you’re a young performer, but I was definitely never like that."



Q: To what extent has your personal style influenced what Blair wears on the show?

"Not at all. If anything, it’s the opposite. Her style is a little expensive for my taste, but it loudly communicates that she is who she is and that she does what she does. I find that admirable. And she’s always dressed appropriately, which I can’t always say about myself."



Q: The references on the show are surprisingly mature, from "Berlin Alexanderplatz" to Sarkozy's being a bad kisser and Kirsten Dunst's stint in rehab.

"It’s definitely a crash course in pop culture and global affairs. We just mentioned Madoff the other day. But remember, we’re talking about the kind of privileged kids who by age 10 already have 12 stamps on their passport. They’re very worldly."



Q: You are working on a CD. What kind of music is it, and can we expect a Lady Gaga makeover?

"And never wearing pants? No. The music is electric and very pop, with a little bit of rock to it. It’s not like bubblegum — it’s very edgy."
