Oh por dios... me he pegado un sustazo porque recién me enteré según la revista OK que Eric tenía cancer a la piel... miren acá les dejo la nota completa:
Cover Story: Eric Dane's Fight Against Cancer
For actor Eric Dane, the first sign that something was wrong came right after the new year, when the Grey's Anatomy star glanced in the mirror and saw what looked like chapped lips but clearly wasn’t.
“I went to my dermatologist,” Eric reveals in an exclusive interview in the new issue of OK!. But the last thing the 35-year-old expected was to be diagnosed with skin cancer. “He said it was malignant tissue caused by sun damage."
The malignancy was treated by freezing the cancerous tissue off with liquid nitrogen. Unfortunately for Eric, the actor had a severe reaction to a cream given to him for his lip after the treatment . “My skin is very sensitive," the actor most famous for playing Dr. Mark "McSteamy" Sloan, explains to OK!, "and my lip was traumatized by the procedure I had to go through.”
His lip’s overreaction to the medication created a painful scenario that made eating difficult, if not impossible. “I didn’t eat very well for a couple of weeks and lost a bunch of weight,” Eric explains, estimating that he dropped at least 10 pounds off his 6'1" frame while dealing with his cancer.
“Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States,” Dr. Micki Ly, a Maui, Hawaii-based dermatologist, explains to OK!. “More than a million cases are diagnosed annually.” But Eric was extremely wise to act quickly in dealing with it, she says. “The mouth is a bad area for a malignancy because they spread faster in mucosal areas, of which the mouth is one.”

Eric Dane's skin scare cleared up
MagazineGrey's Anatomy star Eric Dane used the downtime caused by the writer's strike to seek treatment for early signs of skin cancer. "I grew up in California. I spent a lot of time skiing and a lot of time surfing, and before you realize how important sunblock is, it is too late," he confesses.
For Grey's Anatomy's Eric Dane, the break in production because of the writers' strike could not have come at a better time.
Dane, 35, realized he needed to see a dermatologist after the new year when he spotted what looked like chapped lips in the mirror, he tells OK! magazine in its next issue, out this week.
Because of the strike, he was able to schedule a doctor's visit right away. "I asked (the dermatologist) what it was, and he said it was malignant tissue caused by sun damage. … I grew up in California. I spent a lot of time skiing and a lot of time surfing, and before you realize how important sunblock is, it is too late."
Dane says the doctor burned off the malignancy with liquid nitrogen. "After they burn it off," he tells OK!, "you get a cream. The cream, if you put it on any kind of malignant tissue or cell growth, will eradicate it."
But the treatment wasn't easy. "I had a really severe reaction to the cream," says Dane, whose lips were traumatized by the treatments. "I didn't eat very well for a couple of weeks and lost a bunch of weight. That was kind of tough, but if that's the trade-off, that's fine." http://www.usatoday.com/life/people/2008-02-06-dane_N.htm Y:
Rep Calls Eric Dane Cancer Story A 'Misrepresentation'
OK! Magazine is running a cover story about "Grey's Anatomy," star Eric Dane titled, "My Fight Against Cancer." However, a rep for Dane has told Access Hollywood the cover of the magazine is a "misrepresentation."
The actor's reps confirm to Access, that he did have malignant tissue removed, but stressed Eric "does NOT have cancer."
Yet Dane, who plays Dr. Mark "McSteamy" Sloan on the hit television show, reportedly encountered his own real life medical scare earlier this year.
In the article, the actor reportedly opens up to OK! Magazine about his procedure to have malignant tissue removed. He first noticed a problem while looking in the mirror, at what he first thought were chapped lips."I went to my dermatologist. He said it was malignant tissue caused by sun damage," Eric tells OK!.
He underwent a treatment procedure that uses liquid nitrogen to freeze the cancerous tissue. He was then given a cream for his lips to use following the treatment, to which he had a severe reaction.
"My skin is very sensitive and my lip was traumatized by the procedure I had to go through," says Eric. The actor's lip complications from the cream made it extremely difficult for him to eat. "I didn’t eat very well for a couple of weeks and lost a bunch of weight," he tells OK!.
Eric's health scare was also harrowing for his wife — fellow actress, Rebecca Gayheart.
The stress of Eric's potential life-threatening disease was apparent to a Hollywood insider during the couple's attendance at the SAG Awards.
"You could tell she was carrying the worries of the world on her shoulders. Lots of people inside knew everything wasn't quite right. It was obvious they had a lot on their minds," the insider tells OK!.
"Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States," dermatologist Dr. Micki Ly tells OK!. "More than a million cases are diagnosed annually."
Eric admits to not being diligent about using the proper protection.
"This is probably something that happened so long ago, but you past the point of no return with this stuff," Eric says, "I wasn't so vigilant then, I am now. And I think everybody should be."
Luckily, Eric acted quickly, sought out medical attention avoiding further complications from the malignant tissue.
