Noted for playing quirky and charmingly shy young men, contemporary American actor Patrick Dempsey became a rising star in Hollywood during the late '80s and '90s. A state downhill skiing champion in high school, he began performing nonprofessionally as a juggler, magician, and puppeteer. In 1981, the multi-talented youth placed second at the 1981 International Jugglers Competition, leading to a stage career in which he worked with different troupes around the U.S. Dempsey made his feature film debut playing a bit part in Heaven Help Us (1985). One of Canada's most respected actresses, Sandra Oh is one of her country's growing number of talented performers to make their presence felt in Hollywood. Oh, who is of Korean heritage, was born in Nepean, Ottawa, and began acting at the age of ten. Despite the disapproval of her traditionally-minded parents, she embarked on a professional acting career when she was barely out of her teens. After attending the National Theatre School of Canada in Montreal, Oh had her breakthrough in the 1993 CBC production of Runaway: The Diary of Evelyn Lau. Her portrayal of the title character, a 14-year-old runaway who endured hard times while living on the street, earned Oh a FIPA d'Or for Best Actress at Cannes.

On the big screen, Oh first earned raves and recognition for her portrayal of a Chinese-Canadian woman struggling with both the demands of her conservative parents and those placed on her by society in response to her ethnic identity. Her thoughtful, funny performance earned Oh her first Genie Award (Canada's equivalent of the Oscar), but unfortunately, further work was not immediately forthcoming. Things began to look up when Oh was cast on the popular CBC series Arli$$ in 1996, and in a bit part in the hit comedy Bean (1997).

Justin Chambers was born July 11, 1970 in Springfield, Ohio. He grew up in a rural area of Springfield with his family that includes his parents, older brother, twin brother, and two older sisters. Justin, along with his twin brother moved to Paris, France soon after graduating high school. Justin was near the Metro in Paris when approached by a modeling agent. He was asked if he had ever considered modeling, and was given a business card. Justin arranged an interview soon after his encounter and immediately signed a contract. His career began in Europe, taking him to many exotic and far reaching places. Justin returned to New York in the early 1990's. He continued to model while studying acting and eventually began a career in television and film. Justin resides with his wife and family in New York.

Kate Walsh was born in San Jose, California, on October 13, 1967. She grew up partly in San Jose and partly in Tucson, Arizona, later attending the University of Arizona, where she got involved in regional theater. She later moved to Chicago where she began working with the Piven Theatre Workshop and, later, the Chicago Shakespeare Repertory. She performed on National Public Radio in the production of the radio play "Born Guilty". Walsh later moved to New York City and joined the comedy troupe "Burn Manhattan", performing in a number of Off-Broadway plays.

Her first major television appearance came on "The Drew Carey Show" (1995) where she portrayed Niki Fifer, Drew's girlfriend and a woman struggling with her weight.
